Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer, Actuation Specialist to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will develop and execute designs for actuation solutions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards. Your hands-on experience in the fluid power industry, combined with your proficiency in SOLIDWORKS CAD software, will be essential for developing valve automation products.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and manufacturing to optimize manufacturability, cost, and quality. To excel in this position, leadership skills and a proactive approach are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Design products in collaboration with cross-functional teams, optimizing manufacturability, cost, and quality.
• Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity and functionality.
• Release comprehensive designs, including 3D models, calculations, drawings, and finite element analyses.
• Prepare and release parts lists (BOM) for production in a timely manner.
• Lead concept development, design, and execution for various projects.
• Document and define products fully and accurately to support successful project outcomes.
• Develop tools and processes to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness across engineering tasks.
• Hands-on technical support to customers and internal departments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electro-mechanical Engineering from a recognized Canadian university or equivalent
• 5 + years’ experience in a relevant role in a mechanical design/engineering environment preferred.
• Fluent in French and English, spoken and written, an asset.
• Proven aptitude in the use of parametric solid modeling with SolidWorks – 3D parametric solid-modeling and FEA
• Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes and fluid power system design.
• Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist, an asset
• Hands-on experience in the manufacturing/fluid power environment is an asset

The successful candidate will work from Cowan’s Montreal office.
